Sailfish and Marlin billfishing undeniably affords the
saltwater adventurer abundant opportunities off Pacific Ocean shores or
Caribbean-lure throwing Trophy Tarpon, sleek racing Snook and numerous
freshwater jungle game fish within close proximity inland of Costa Rica's
treasure chest.
From it's white sandy
beaches on its Pacific coast to it's lush tropical jungles, nowhere on Earth
offers more diverse types of fishing.
Freshwater
Costa Rica offers the fisherman a number of choices for fishing, from novices
to world class sportfishermen. Deep in the Costa Rican jungles, anglers enjoy
the peace and serenity that only a tropical jungle offer. This solitlude is
broken only by the sounds of native birds calling.
Guapote and Machaca along
with Mojarra are the most popular Costa Rican freshwater fish. They provide
great light tackle fishing 12 months a year and are so abundant that 70 or 80
strikes per day is not unusual.
The Guapote is a cousin to
the Peacock Bass and similarly shares the same type of habitat. These fierce
fighters are true lure busters. When they hit your bait, they run, jump,
tailwalk and do everything in their power to let you know that you have a
struggle getting these fish in the boat.
Saltwater
One of the most magnificent creatures in the ocean, is
the Sailfish. And on the Pacific coast, Costa Rica has an abundence of them.
From its long pointed bill to the spectacular dorsal sail, it appears to been
created to fly, and that is just what it does. Once you've hooked up with with
a sailfish, be ready for a long fight complete with dazzling displays of
flight, tailwalking and almost as much activity out of the water as in
it.
On the Carribean side, Costa Rica offers great Tarpon
and Snook angling. Snook, known for their hard hitting and fast runs, are sure
to give the angler a memorable time.
Tarpon fishing in Costa
Rica will provide the angler with more thrills per fish than just about any
creature that lives in water. Once you set the hook, watch as they explode
skyward, twisting and turning trying to free themselves of your lure. Expect to
see 10 or more spectacular aerial displays before you land one of these "King
of Gamefish."
So whether you are looking
for magnificent trophy Billfish or Tarpon, or you wish to battle the Guapote or
Machacca, Costa Rica might be the place for you. Give Sportventure a call and
let them help you make a memory.
