Truly,
one of angling's Central American secret-gems for Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit
fishing inshore for sport fishermen and fly anglers.
Whether you are looking for exciting bill fishing in the crystal blue
Caribbean or you prefer light tackle or fly fishing for bonefish, permit or
tarpon, Belize offers it all.
You will have some
difficult decisions to make when fishing for bonefish, whether to use fly or
spin tackle while persuing your quarry. These scrappy sportfish average 3-6
pounds with some fish hitting the 8-10 pound mark.
Along with the excellent bonefishing, you'll also
encounter permit, tarpon and snapper in the same crystal bluewaters. Pictured
at right is a sample of the prized permit.
Tarpon are often called the
king of all game fish, and there are very few thrills that can compare to
hooking a tarpon. Once you have a strike, you better set the hook hard, because
these hard mouthed fighters will do anything in their bag of tricks to remain
free. Leaping and twisting, tarpon will launch themselve towards the sky, and
crash back to the water sending spray everywhere in an effort to rid themselve
of your lure. The tarpon in the waters of Belize usually weigh in 25-50 pound
range, but some go much larger.
Just a few miles off the eastern shore of Belize, is
the second largest barrier reef in the world. Residents of this undersea
treasure includes wahoo, roosterfish, kingfish and barracuda. The reef also
offers superb opportunities for skin and scuba diving.
So if the memories you want
to make include great surf fishing on the flats for bonefish, permit or tarpon,
reef fishing for wahoo, roosterfish, barracuda, blue water billfishing or skin
and scuba diving opportunities, contact Sportventure to help you make your
memories.
